    I assume the thermocouple you refer to, is the one that turns off the gas flow to the oven if the pilot goes out. Can't imagine any gas appliance, even from many years before that, the would not have this safety feature. Usually there will be a delay of about 30 sec after the pilot light is lit, before the main burner can light. That is the work of the thermocouple waiting to heat up. If you have used the oven yourself, you probably already know this.

    How did insurance get apparently erroneous information about the Force 10 w.r.t. thermocouples? Did the insurance company use a surveyor's report? If so, that surveyor needs to be given correct information and the survey to be amended.
