Breaking Waves

I have been reading your thread about attaching a double strand of dyneema to a ring. I want to make my topping lift from dyneema. So I would have a single line with an eye at each end to attach to the pin of a shackle. Am I right in thinking that a simple spliced soft eye could break as the pin diameter is less that 5x of the line diameter? Would a ring in the eye be sufficient? I plan to use 4mm or 5mm Dyneema max. Thanks, Boyd
