HI, just read your thread on surveyor in Bahamas. We are thinking about purchasing a cat in Freeport and are looking for a surveyor. Would be very thankful , if you could name one. All the best Stefan

Hi! If you don't mind sharing your surveyor recommendation from Nassau that would be super helpful!

    Thanks!

Dear CaptainRivet, I'm pretty new here on this forum, and read that you happen to own a HP UC35 as well? I'm having trouble running the engine, seems to stop after approx 5 minutes. After a 5min clooling down, i can start it again. It it's already pretty old so I guess it's time to replace the engine. Could you share the specifications for a new engine? Am I correct that I need at least a 1500W version? Thanks in advance for your reply! With kind regards, Paul

I noticed that you seem to be a big fan of HH. Any reason in particular? Do you know anyone that owns an HH? Thanks.

    G'Day CaptainRivet,

As it happens, I bought that boat that sailed from Canada to Sydney.
    (Inboards Yanmars not outboards btw)
Great boat - I love her. Put a big solar array on top & got rid of shore power inlet as it just wasnt needed.

We run offshore sailing (< 100nm) often, and spend a bit of time onboard. She goes GREAT for her intended purpose - but she's no speedboat. 5-9 under sail (surfing downhill on a reach I've hit 13 - wouldn't recommend it though)
She handles rough weather very well too.

If you're ever near Sydney, Australia, (Lake Macquarie), feel free to reach out.

I agree with some of the comments though- replacing the hard top is an option - I'm looking into - 6X185W domestic Solar array custom made to fit current mounts. I also run a 3000/6000W (Peak) inverter for microwave, gerni, laptops etc - and never had an issue.

I LOVE this boat, paid $150K AUS about 3 years ago - and was money well spent.!

anyways - feel free to drop me a line

Beautiful and perfect cat in many ways, but in Miami (my current residence) keeping a 50' cat is not ea$y. I'm self limited by 45' for lack of sailing partner and available moorings.
This one seems amazing as well:

almost too good but can't find anything on it other than made in Tunisia by some very experienced french highflyer builders.

CaptainRivet, Take a look at Talisker Catamaran on catamaransite.com. She's in Honolulu. Look under American Catamarans.

    Thx,
    Joe
