Hi Ex-Calif, I am getting a hold of Maxi77 here in Thailand. Owner says
that it came from Singapore, where it was used in the sailing club (?).
AFAIK this boat was (and still is) popular in Baltic countries, but quite
rare sight around. Are there many Maxi77 in Singapore ? How do you
like her ? Any tips / information would be gratefully received.

    Cheers,

    Piotr

It has been a while since I have had the opportunity to get back with you. You helped me out with all the "sail" info for my 27' Morgan. Hope you and all of yours are doing well and the new year treats greatly!

Hi - sorry for the delay in responding - I had missed the notification that a reply came in. As for the spreader issue, I think I have worked out a solution - wrapped the shroud just below the spreader with some tape to provide support. Did a long sail yesterday and seemed to hold. Will continue to monitor it.

Also had a question for you - some of my regular crew who come out cruising with me are itching to do some racing. Are there some informal races in Singapore - I have heard about twilight races? Though I've done a decent amount of racing, I'd like to start small with something not too competitive since my crew are all pretty new to the sport. Any guidance is appreciated. Cheers and happy holidays, Jon

Thanks Ex-Calif, don't worry, I had to change my plans due other unforseen circumstances. Will be sailing to Phuket on 15/16 January instead. I'm in One 15 but likely to spend Saturday night and Sunday out in St John's if you need a cold one...

    Hi Ex-Calif
I'm hoping to sail to Langkawi this week but my prospective crew went awol. Know anyone trustworthy that might be free this week? If you do I will send you my local number. Cheers!

Hi Ex-Calif - saw your post about drooping spreaders on the forum. I'm based in Singapore as well with the same problem on my Jeanneau. Do you know of any riggers in town? Would be nice to have the pros look at this one if possible. Thanks, Jon

    Hi,

    Thought you might know:

    The post in

forums/f71/october-ooops-48064.html shows as "closed" - yet, I wasn't notified of that, nor aware of any transgressions (nor was it pulled).

Still trying not to step on toes of regs here, but this is curious. Other places this has appeared have interesting threads developing (not about the starting place in this specific thread, which occurred in a different sub-forum here, and was moved, so the initial comments precede my actual post in the logs forum - the only place I seem to get a ration of grief occasionaly is CF).

As you specified that this was the proper place for this type of post, do you know why it's closed?

    Thanks.

    Biography
Born in SoCal and raised for a time (9 years) in Australia - Mum was an Aussie and I have siblings there still. 30+ years in the commercial jet engine business. 29+ years in Asia/Pacific region with assignments in Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Honolulu, Tokyo and now Singapore. Bought my starter" boat Relax Lah! a few years ago. She is one of the busiest boats in Singapore and gets out at least every weekend. Sailing resume includes day/weekend cruising, racing J24s, race crew and beer can racing as much as possible. Future plans include retiring in Asia/Pacific on a suitable cat cum portable condo on the water. Crazy me - I have no plans or desire to circumnavigate - plenty to see in this part of the world and little time to see it.
