Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work that way... the inside of hoses/piping is an anaerobic environment, and as you read in my book, odor only occurs in anaerobic conditions. So whether there's anything left sitting or standing in a pipe or not, the inside of it will get stinky unless you thoroughly clean it out almost daily.
