Hello Leee- Fellow Chatham Extrem 50 owner. Mine was build in Quebec in 2006/7 and sailed under the name O’Bleu until my wife and I purchased it in 2019. I’d love to connect and discuss establishing an owners group to learn, share and connect with one another. With the Gilbert Caroff website being shuttered after his death, there is little info out there for new owners. What do you think?

Hello Leigh. I only just now saw your messages - I didn't even know 'profile comments' were a thing . Sorry about the radio silence. Anyway we went out this past summer, did many, many jobs on the boat, then took it to Tunisia for this winter. It is in Monastir now and we are back in Vancouver. Next spring we will head out, do more jobs , then Malta and Greece. Any experience or comments about in wintering a boat in Greece? Cheers, Neil

Hi Lee, Sorry for delay but while i often login to CF it is not very often i look at PM's. I know Greece has its complications. I have now been in the Adriatic for 5 years and usually spend summer months in Croatia (more below) and then back to Italy for the winter months. I had my boat at Certosa/Venice for 3 winters (CA discount) and then decided to use a marina in Bari (Ranieri) which is cheaper than Venice. Ranieri/Bari must be one of the best yards in the Adriatic for any work you might need, quite popular so you need to book a space ahead with Antonio Ranieri. Most of them speak English, Bari airport is only about 10 mins in a taxi (EUR 25). It ticks all the boxes for me . Send Antonio Ranieri an email info at ranieri-bari.com. For a 12 month contract 2020-2021 i paid EUR345/mth for my 12.84m boat

Hi there. See you are from Vancouver and have been sailing the Med for a few years. We recently bought a 52' in Spain and are selling our boat in Vancouver. I'd love to learn some lessons from you if possible. I am heading back in the Spring to do some work and then depart the EU early June to 'reset the VAT clock'. Plan on heading East. Cheers, Neil
