    Hi Steve,

Apologies for not responding until now. The fuel polisher is still on my to-do list but now that I have a lot of the excess stuff out of the engine room there's room for it and I'll start this Fall. Right now I'm in PEI, Canada until September but on returning home will replace the two fuel tanks and build/install the fuel polisher. The bane of my life is engines that won't start. I have the pump from a diesel truck on hand but I don't know its capacity so am more inclined just to buy a decent sized unit and be done with it. But I think you should be able to do a lot better than $350 --- more along the lines of $100 to $125. Before I jump though, I'll measure the capacity of the 12V pump I have. Will let you lknow the outcome, but it will be September before I can do this.

I would use degreaser and water first,,,slosh it around good,,,then use Parts washer solvent,,go to any garage,,and ask them for some used solvent,,,or ask them for the use of it for a little while,,,they usually capture it from the parts washer and send it back for recycling.
After you have got it all out,,,then run an air dryer piped into the tank to dry it out completely.

Any automotive rebuild shop would have the where withall to do it,,,most repair shops used to have steam cleaners,,,i dont know if they do any more,,,what about the marina works yard??

    hi steve
great idea to visit anegada! very interesting albeit very flat. one sees the island really late on an approach.
no problem on the lavezzi, she will point abt 35 deg to the wind, but when chartering u hv anyway a full diesel tank incl. it probably pays anyway to hv at least the leeward motor on 2000 rpm to make some speed, unless u hv more than 15 kn wind frm the right direction.
    happy sailing!
    john
