tspeed, I wanted to thank you for your patience and courtesy in replying over in the 'hostage boat' thread. Seeing ten new pages of messages posted mainly by folks who obviously haven't read any of the first 20 pages...I'm kinda giving up there.

And I don't disagree with you, DOT regulations are one of the many things I've never had occassion to read up on. I am curious, though. If an FBI agent (without a DOT partner) can't pull over a wanted man in a truck, how can a loca sheriff do it for a misdemenaor like speeding, or having a tail light out? Or is there a specific DOT reg that allows for routine traffic stops (only) as well?

You see how a civilian could get confused about that?

Me, I'd agree to pay the trucker, then hand him a fistful of cash and the business end of a stun gun if I couldn't set up a more, ah, conventional sting. But that would violate the forum's "be nice" rule. <G>
