6.5 is possible with that boat on a beam to broad reach in 15 knots of wind and a clean bottom. That will not be your average speed. Its not a racer unless you find a regatta for 31c boats and could be a good cruiser depending on your skills.

I had an Ericson 32, loved that boat sailed her in an 80 knot squall in Antigua, just kept her head to the wind she was fine. Then sailed her from Guadeloupe to Antigua in about 30 knots on the beam it was a fun fast ride.

I love that boat.

Stay out of shallow water, mine had a 6 foot keel, ran into trouble in Clear water Florida, you should have little trouble on the California coast,

I think I know this boat, I visited it while hunting for a 30-32 foot boat. I loved how it looked but it was too demanding for me to take care of. I hope it goes well for you, I indeed think it was well priced.

Its the one in Alameda,clean but still needs a lot to make it a nice cruiser. I'll make the right decision.
