Gemini 3400 center board.

I have a 1994 Gemini 3400. I need to replace the starboard center board. Question, will the center board from a Gemini 105 replace it. It appears the same or close enough from pictures. If not, where can I get one.

Re: Gemini 3400 center board.

I think they are different, Not much, But maybe enough to make it not fit,
They are a tight fit inside the box,
Gemini forum on face book would be a good place to ask,
They have all the different models and where to get a new one made,

These ones are from a 2003 105MC,

Cheers, Brian,

Re: Gemini 3400 center board.

I don't think the 105 board will fit the 3400. I have a 3000 which is the same hull as the 3200 and 3400 and we also have a 3200 and a 2012 hunter built 105 MC? (i'm not sure of the designations of the 105's) at the marina where i work. A few years ago we rebuilt both foam/glass boards from the 105 which were waterlogged and actually coming apart. They were very poorly built and in fact the foam in them was a pour in type which was of much too low a density for the application which i suspect was the 2lb density bouyancy foam rather than a structural foam. They were the asymetrical ones of poor design while ours are symetrical which makes much more sense on a gemini. However before we reinstalled them i laid one on a sheet of plywood and traced the profile and took a few notes and then, with a view to making a mold to produce replacement boards for sale, i removed one of my boards this summer to possibly reshape and use as a plug for the mold. I laid it over the tracing of the 105 board to see if i can make one mold that would work for both models. I can tell you with certainty that the profile is not quite the same in the all important part that is in the trunk. I have not spent the time to analyze whether i can reshape the profile in that area to work for all models yet as i discovered that my boards are in remarkably good condition so no great rush to get to it yet. What i can tell you also with certainty is that the thickness of my plywood boards and the foam/glass 105 boards are the same at 1 3/4". Mine are NOT tight in the trunk and clunk around if i leave them down when at anchor so i believe any board will need some shimming in the trunk to prevent this as there is no precision in the build of these boats. If you have any interest in a properly built composite board i may be willing to move ahead with the mold. Pm me with your phone # if you have any interest and we can talk.

Steve.
