Dufour Arpege owners?

Hello

Would like to know if there are any Arpege owners in this forum? I have hull #491 built in 1970.

Re: Dufour Arpege owners?

Hello all. I have an Arpege in South Korea, bought last year in Japan. Doug's Arpege refit website is an inspiration.

bil56, do you have any photos of saving the Arpege and the GRP repairs after?

Captain Kdub, a new Yanmar 3YM20 sounds great. How does it perform? I bet it's great.

Re: Dufour Arpege owners?

Ahoy SV Magpie

I finalize the purchase on May 18th 2020. I have a friend in the Annapolis, MD area that will be conducting the pre-sale survey this week in my Absence. She is moored at a private slip off the Chesapeake. I live in Texas and will arrive at SV Papillon on the 15th to take possession after the Sail Survey is complete. I intend to make a slow transit sail back to Texas on the ICW. The SV Papillon is a Coast Guard Documented vessel and has been maintained very well by previous owner(s). Sadly the previous Owner passed away just after the New Professionally installed Yanmar 3YM20 was installed and tested. She has 15 hours on her Tach Time meter. The owners widow chose to sell her rather than annual maintain taxes and mooring fees. The couple is quite elderly and would have been difficult for them to maintain as well. SV Papillon is having her bottom scraped and being prepped for transit by the present owner. I have included to photos I have received depicting her pre-sale condition.

Re: Dufour Arpege owners?

Captain Kdub,

Sounds like Papillon has been well-cared-for and it's good you'll be getting a lot of joy from that new engine instead of it sitting at the dock.

Good luck with your survey and purchase. Annapolis is a great place to start, with every marine item or service available. Bacon Sails has a warehouse full of new and used gear where you could spend hours searching for unique parts. Due to the current situation they're only taking pickup and delivery orders but the staff were helpful and knowledgeable when I visited so if you send them info they can find it for you.

If you want a nice nesting dinghy, stop by Chesapeake Light Craft just a block away from Bacon. In the future I'd like to build their Eastport Nesting Pram. I think it would fit on the bow of an Arpege.

I clicked your link but wasn't able to access the Arpege gallery.

Cheers,
SVMagpie

Re: Dufour Arpege owners?

Hi everybody
I own for Arpege 71 for 6 years allready. Bilding #591. keel is 1,82. Original Volvo was replaced on Yanmar 2 cilinder(best, that previos owner can do for she). Deck was leaking everywhere. When we sail with she from Holland to Baltic, nothing in cabin was dry. So i make total repair of deck, now no problems. Prety fast and strong boat for these years, max i make 9,2 knots in top on it downwind in very heavy weather and 6,5 knots upwind. Some problems with wood, but its normal for 50 years old boat. Good choice for less than 10000 eur.

Re: Dufour Arpege owners?

no particular problem with the keel bolts or the bottom on the Arpège, unless the boat has hit hard ...

Re: Dufour Arpege owners?

Ahoy All:
Never owed a Dufour but can still remember an ad written back in the 1970s.
The picture was of a blonde in a bikini on the foredeck of a Dufour, and the caption read, "Micheal Dufour believes that boats, like women, should be beautiful well built and responsive."
