Beneteau 473 FUEL Tank

I’m a new owner of a 2005 Beneteau 473. It has 2 fuel tanks, but I can’t seem to burn fuel out of the port tank. I believe I’ve identified a fuel return selector (just aft of engine above transmission) but can’t figure out how to select the tank selector to supply the engine. Beneteau manuals don’t provide any useful information. I hope someone out there can help.

Thanks!

Did find this on the internet, it might help.

Re: Beneteau 473 FUEL Tank

I didn’t realize the second fuel tank was an after market option. I like having it, and that explains the lack of documentation. From the schematic, it looks like tank selection is as easy as opening or closing the shutoff valve at the tank and matching the fuel return valve.

Thanks!

Re: Beneteau 473 FUEL Tank

There is a 3 way selector valve between the primary filter housing and the fuel tanks, as well as the individual shut off valves at each tank.

Do you happen to have a photo of that?

Thank you!

This is a picture of the Beneteau supplied valve kit

One valve on the fuel supply side, and the second one for the fuel return side.
You said you found the valve for the return side, the one for the supply side should be in that location as well. If you trace the fuel hose back from the filter housing towards the fuel tanks, you should find it (if it has been fitted).

Of course, whoever fitted the second fuel tank might have plumbed things differently.
If the supply side has not been fitted with the 3 way valve, the only way to select fuel tanks is at the tank shut off valves, which is not ideal as the valves are under the aft bunks.
They could have fitted another set of isolating valves in the fuel hoses before the join.

Like I said, tracing the fuel hoses back from the filter should reveal how the system has been set up.
