Pearson 33CB 1973 Rudder Shoe

I am desperately looking for 1973 era Pearson 33 CB that is currently on the hard in upstate NY. When putting my boat up for the summer hurricane season, I somehow hit something with the bottom of my rudder and the Rudder Shoe actually fell off the boat in 13 feet of Alligator infested, very brown, water. It is gone. I need a replacement shoe or another P-33 to take measurements off so I can have a new one machined or cast. Since I lost mine, I have nothing even to work from to replace it. Does anyone know of a P-33 I could drive to and get some measurements from before it is launched for the summer in upstate NY? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

P-33 #184, 1973

Rudy @ D&R Marine may have some info or a drawing, or even be able to make the part. D & R Marine call, they don't seem to respond to emails. They made a new rudder for my 85 P34

Talked to Rudy at D&R. He said they originally made the rudder shoe, but threw away the plans in past years and cannot help, anybody have any other ideas?

Re: Pearson 33CB 1973 Rudder Shoe

Bill Shaw Jr (son of designer) found me a Pearson 33 on the hard right next to his old homestead and I used it to make a mold and now a part. I think I am in business. I just got back from the foundry and have a new silicon Bronze part that is heading off to the machine shop for final work. I moving forward. If anyone ever needs a replacement shoe for a Pearson 33, I now have one made of fiberglass to use as a foundry part.

Re: Pearson 33CB 1973 Rudder Shoe

Don,

I've got a 33-1 also. First off, I wouldn't mind having a copy of the plans for your shoe just for future reference, should I ever need it. But, in the meantime, I have a question which I hope you'll be able to help with.

I'm pretty new to a skeg-mounted rudder with a shoe. Lots of experience with an aft-hung and a spade rudder, but not this. I've been getting some squeaks in the rudder recently. I don't know if it's coming from the shoe, bearings in the post, or even from where the tiller head fitting attaches. I've never disassembled any of it; and she's in the water, and will be for quite some time. Because I've never disassembled it, I don't know what to make of it. Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

Lastly, I've got #189, and know someone with #198, which are both from 1972. So yours, being #184 is likely from 1972 also.
